Hi, my name is Zana and I
believe I can make a difference. Being the confident speaker that I
am, I believe I can do so by expressing and addressing the issues
that worry the youth in Newham today.
And this I will make my priority, because we are the future
generation therefore we should be invested in.
As Newham's Young Mayor, I would push for summer programs to
include character and leadership sessions to be led by mentors, or
to be included in the schools curriculum. The focus would be in
areas of academic success, career preparation and giving back to
our community. I believe an early start in these areas will give us
an advantage in the future.
Through these sessions my aim is to help Newham's youth to become
responsible and caring citizens. We should be learning skills to
get involved in our democratic way of life.
This will help us, the youth, to aim for a better quality of life,
to forget the gang culture on the streets, to change the "I do not
care" attitude to that of "I am determined to do better."
And as the future generation we have to continue providing the
legacy, of keeping Newham a place where people choose to live, work
and stay.
On this journey, I am determined to the best that I can for us if
you elect me as the Young Mayor of Newham. I will not stumble at
the first hurdle thrown in my path but will continue to fight
on.
