What are the benefits of being active?

Regular physical activity can benefit your heart, weight, muscles and mind. Physical activity can help protect you from developing health problems, or assist you to manage and control existing medical conditions.

I don't like sport or gyms, is there anything for me?

There are even more ways to a healthier active lifestyle and with so many ways to achieve this, it's easier than you think! We have a wide range of activities to suit every ability and taste. Visit your local Leisure Centre, Community Centre, Watersports Centre, Parks and Open Spaces. Are there any walking groups in Newham?

Yes, the Newham Striders and Rambles walk group is an urban walking scheme offering seven walks per week plus four walks per week for adults with learning difficulties and monthly countryside rambles. (The walks take place in and around Newham with the majority in local parks). The Saturday walk is aimed at the more experienced walkers or for those who want to progress to a longer more challenging walk. How to do I get referred onto the Health Walk programme?

The Health Walks are a purposeful, structured walk programme designed to suit all abilities for the purpose of improving an individual's health and wellbeing. The programme is delivered in local parks across the borough. Referral is by your GP, practice nurse or health professional for the scheme. What are Trim Trails?

Trim trails are walking and jogging routes around parks, lined with a great range of outdoor gym equipment. The equipment is free to use for those over 14s, whether you're a fitness fanatic or just fancy burning off those extra calories.
