Reporting crime and anti-social behaviour

break

Our Community Safety Service aims to make Newham a better place to live, work and visit. It deals with a wide range of anti-social problems in the borough.

Your safety is a priority. We monitor a network of CCTV cameras across Newham. And our Council Constabulary works in partnership with the police, patrolling parks and open spaces where anti-social behaviour occurs.

Call the Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Service hotline on 0800 731 3300.

You can call us about:

  • Intimidating groups in public places
  • Nuisance neighbours
  • Litter
  • Dumped rubbish
  • Graffiti or vandalism
  • Intimidation or harassment
  • Racial harassment
  • Noisy behaviour
  • Abandoned or untaxed vehicles
  • Begging or ticket touting
  • Street prostitution and kerb crawling
  • Crack houses and drug dealing
  • Alcohol, tobacco or fireworks being sold to children
  • Drinking on the street

Contacting us

  • All calls to the hotline are confidential and you don't have to give your name unless you want to
  • Our specialist staff take all calls seriously and we can take firm action against people who are behaving anti-socially
  • We offer support to callers or somebody they know who is experiencing anti-social behaviour
  • We respond to calls from all sections of the community
  • In an emergency always call 999

What we do

  • Our specialist staff take complaints about anti-social behaviour 24 hours a day
  • We have a team dedicated to supporting people who suffer from nuisance in their area
  • Firm action (such as getting anti-social behaviour orders) is taken against people involved in anti-social behaviour
  • We remove abandoned or untaxed vehicles from Newham's streets
  • We take action against people and businesses that dump rubbish illegally
  • We tackle shops and individuals selling alcohol, tobacco, knives, butane gas or fireworks to children
  • We also have a specialist team to support women experiencing domestic violence - and we take action against their abusers

Members of the public are at the heart of our work. In fact, we need you to tell us when you see anti-social behaviour, so that we can take action against it. When you call us with a complaint, you are doing much more than dealing with nuisance behaviour. You are helping to make Newham a better and safer place to live.

Make a call. Make a difference.
