Helping people find
work
In Newham we want all residents to
have a decent and secure income. Work is the only sustainable way
out of poverty. Good employment means you can buy the things you
need but it also improves your health and wellbeing, and it can
help you achieve your goals.
You have told us that employment is one of your top
priorities. That's why we're continuing to invest in Workplace,
Newham's flagship employment service. While nearly 2.7 million
people are looking for work across the country it's more important
than ever to ensure Newham residents are able to access the
opportunities that are available.

Workplace.
Since it opened only four years ago, Workplace has helped get
10,700 Newham residents into work. They can offer job seekers all
they need - from personalised careers advice and help finding
training or education courses to advice on starting your own
business.
For the long-term unemployed, we have the
Mayor's Employment
Project. It offers more intensive support and the guarantee
that no one will be worse off in work than on
benefits.
