Standards
Committee
Councils must by law have their
own Code of Conduct for elected members (councillors and the Mayor)
and co-opted members (professional advisors on committees) and must
set up Standards Committees to oversee their conduct.
Newham has:
- Set up a Standards Committee of five independent people and two
councillors including the terms of reference, current membership
and dates of meetings. The Code of Conduct sets out the principles
which members and co-opted members are expected to
follow.

Manager. Currently, as the Head of Provider Services for NHS
Waltham Forest, I am required to hold high standards and sign up to
a professional code of conduct. I have amassed a wide range of
experience, through managing staff and working with partner public
bodies, ensuring that services are delivered to a high standard for
the public. I am used to having to take an objective view with
regard to controversial issues, and have been accredited with
always applying evidence and seeking views from a wide audience in
my decision making.
