Standards Committee

break

Councils must by law have their own Code of Conduct for elected members (councillors and the Mayor) and co-opted members (professional advisors on committees) and must set up Standards Committees to oversee their conduct.

Newham has:

  • Set up a Standards Committee of five independent people and two councillors including the terms of reference, current membership and dates of meetings. The Code of Conduct sets out the principles which members and co-opted members are expected to follow.
