The early years of a child's life
are the crucial period for building resilience. The years from
birth to starting school at age five are the formative period for
both physical and mental development. The basic skills that you
learn during this period are the foundations on which later success
is built. Kids who get off to a good start in life tend to retain
that advantage throughout their life.
We know that parents in Newham want to do the best by
their kids and help them get off to a great start. But we also know
that raising a child is a tough job - sometimes people need a bit
of a helping hand.
Our outstanding Children's Centres are there to help. The Centres
are a great place for parents to bring their children to have fun
and to learn.
But they're not just for kids. Children's Centres have a variety
of sessions and courses that can help you hone your parenting
skills so you're better able to support your child's development.
The Centres also provide a friendly and informal environment where
parents can meet each other and build the friendships and
connections that are at the heart of community resilience.
Our centres are free for parents to use.
