HealthWorks in London secures franchise to deliver National Clean Air Awards

The National Clean Air Award is the first UK-wide scheme that rewards employers who implement effective workplace no-smoking policies by giving them a prestigious, nationally recognised award.

Does my company qualify?

You qualify for the National Clean Air Gold Award if:

  • Your company premises and grounds are completely smoke free
  • Your company has a separate written no smoking policy
  • Your company actively discourages smoking at the entrances and exits to your premises
  • Your company encourages staff to quit

You qualify for the National Clean Air Silver Award if:

  • You allow smoking in only designated external areas

What if my company meets none of the requirements but want to take action?

  • You qualify for a Commitment to Change Certificate

HealthWorks in London will help you work towards the awards by supporting your company in developing policies and meeting the requirements and in the meantime your company would qualify for the Commitment to Change Certificate.

How much will it cost?

Usually £25 per application but prior to July 1 2007, HealthWorks in London are so keen to see workplaces go smoke free and to reduce the harm to staff and customers caused by passive smoking that they will foot the bill!

All companies that gain the award will be added to the National Clean Air Award directory and the planned Smoke Free Newham Directory. Businesses will also be invited to take part in an awards ceremony later in the year.

Note that new legislation means that all workplaces must be smoke free by July 1 2007.
