Licensing Act 2003 -
Licensing Policy
The Council for the London Borough
of Newham agreed a reviewed licensing policy which comes into
effect on 30 September 2010.
The main purpose of having a Policy is to set out the
matters that the council will take into account when considering
applications for activities that are licensed under the Licensing
Act.
The activities are:
- the sale by retail of alcohol (e.g. in pubs, off
licences, restaurants, night clubs, convenience stores
etc)
- the supply of alcohol in qualifying clubs
- the provision of regulated entertainment (e.g. music, dancing,
plays, films etc)
- the provision of late night refreshment (e.g. takeaways,
restaurants)
The principal aim of the Policy is to promote the four licensing
objectives of the Licensing Act, which are the prevention of crime
and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance, and
the protection of children from harm.
You can download a
