Microchip Your
Dog
The Animal Welfare team currently
provides a FREE identity micro chipping service for all dogs owned
by Newham residents.
In addition to ensuring that your dog has an identity
tag, it's a good idea to get either an identity microchip or an
identity tattoo. These have two advantages:
- If your dog goes missing these forms of identification
will help reunite you and your dog much quicker, even if it has
been stolen.
- Tattoos and microchips will make your dog less attractive to
thieves as these are permanent forms of identification that cannot
be removed.
The service involves inserting a special chip the size of a grain
of rice into the dog's neck which means the dog can be identified
should they stray or be stolen.
As a Newham resident we can microchip your dog for FREE as part of
a special scheme to promote responsible dog ownership (normal cost
of this service is around £25).
