Why not...

  • Segregate waste materials such as paper, cardboard, glass, cans, plastics and cooking oil for recycling.
  • Work with your suppliers to ensure that packaging received on raw ingredients or materials is recyclable, returnable or re-usable.
  • Look at the quantities or raw ingredients that you are ordering. Make sure that you are not over ordering - which could indicate a fault in your process flow.
  • Consider buying in bulk to reduce packaging and costs.
  • Make it easy for your customers to recycle their waste. Label suitable containers and make it clear which type of waste should be disposed of in each. Display this information prominently and provide clear instructions.
  • Where possible, supply food or drink in reusable containers and encourage customers to return them after use. For example use cups, mugs and glasses rather than disposable plastic and paper cups.
  • Sign up to TastE-Bulletin for quarterly updates from Envirowise on the latest news.
