Free collections of
electrical equipment for businesses
Newham is working in partnership
with Recycle for London, DHL Envirosolutions and SWEEEP to offer
businesses in the borough free collections of waste electrical and
electronic equipment (WEEE).
What can be collected?
Any electrical equipment can be collected, from small items like
cameras and phones, to larger appliances like fridges and
computers.
If an item has a plug or a battery then you can use this service to
recycle it.
What happens to the equipment collected?
All the equipment collected will be repaired, re-used or sent for
recycling at the SWEEEP (Specialist WEEE Processing) facility in
Sittingbourne, Kent.
IT equipment that is in good working order will be passed to
Computer Aid so that it can be used again. All hard drives will be
securely wiped before being passed on to a new customer.
Can I bring in items from home?
Yes, you can use this service to get rid of electrical items from
your home too.
You can also offer your customers the opportunity to bring in their
old electrical items to be recycled through this service. However,
please make sure that you have the appropriate insurance in place
beforehand, and you will also need to provide an appropriate
container to store the items your customers bring in.
How do I book a collection?
You can book a collection by calling free phone 0800 085
1050.
Please note that this service is provided by DHL Envirosolutions,
