How many bins do I need

break

Deciding how many bins your business will need is an essential step in setting up your commercial waste agreement.

You need to ensure that your container is large enough to contain all the waste you generate as extra waste will not be collected and you may be fined for fly tipping.

If your waste varies week by week you will need to ensure that your container is large enough to take the maximum amount you produce.

While every business is different, we have produced a guide based on British Standard typical waste amounts. This will help you decide which type of container is right for you:

Premises Size Waste Collections
Office 80 m2 210L 3 bags a week
General Store 80 m2 800L One 1100L once a week
Take Away 80 m2 800L One 1100L once a week
Restaurant 20 covers 1500L One 1100L twice a week
or
One 1100L and one 660L once a week
Hotel 10 rooms 1500L One 1100L twice a week

Fast Food - Eat In 80 m2 1600L One 1100L twice a week

Based on a standard single shop of 80 m2 - the size of half a tennis court.

Bins may not be suitable for all properties, for example those with no rear access or bin storage area.
