Gas smells
If you think you smell gas, call
the National Gas Emergency 24 hour service immediately on 0800 111
999 to report it.
- DO NOT turn any electrical switches on
or off
- DO NOT smoke, strike matches or use
naked flames
- DO turn the gas supply off at the
meter
- DO open doors and windows to get rid of
the gas
- DO check appliances - cookers, fires
etc. for unlit gas, or if the pilot light has gone out
- DO keep people away from the affected
area
