Public Protection undertakes specialist noise
investigations and actions including:
- Working with the
Planning Service to ensure that new developments
do not cause nuisance and that new developments are adequately
protected from noise. This is achieved by advising upon necessary
planning conditions to restrict noise during construction and by
providing suitable noise controls for any plant or operation. In
the case of buildings in noisy areas, conditions may mean that
noise surveys are required and noise insulation provided to ensure
that internal noise levels are suitable.
- Monitoring noise from road, rail and aircraft and the
investigation of complaints.
- Developing noise mapping for the Borough.
- Controlling noise from
construction projects.
- Providing advice about general environmental noise, sound
insulation and noise from London City Airport. (For information on
