Regulating permitted
installations
Once a site such as a petrol
station has received a permit, it needs to be operated in
accordance with the conditions within the permit.
Officers from the Pollution Control Unit check compliance
by carrying out compliance inspections and responding to complaints
as required. If an installation is non-compliant with an aspect of
its permit, the action taken by Newham Council is in accordance
with the councils LA-IPPC/LAPPC Enforcement Policy.
In light of this guidance, the London Borough of Newham may vary
the permit conditions. Alternatively, the operator can ask for the
permit to be varied to reflect proposed changes at the site. If
this is done, either a new permit is issued or a variation notice
is served.
