ID required at Jenkins Lane

You must take proof of identity when you visit a Reuse and Recycling Centre.

The East London Waste Authority (ELWA) is the Waste Disposal Authority (WDA) for the four ELWA boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge.

ELWA manages the four Reuse and Recycling Centres (RRCs) where residents of these boroughs are able to recycle and dispose of household waste free of charge. These are:

  • Frizlands Lane, Dagenham
  • Gerpins Lane, Upminster
  • Jenkins Lane, Barking
  • Chigwell Road, Woodford Bridge

See the reuse and recycling centres on a map

The RRCs are provided for the free disposal of waste from ELWA residents only. The provision of these sites is paid for by ELWA residents as part of Council Tax payments.

Disposing of waste is becoming more expensive and to prevent residents from outside the ELWA region using the sites, which would increase the costs for ELWA region tax payers, changes have been made.

What ID do I need?

Residents must bring either a current Council Tax bill or driving licence in order to dispose of their waste free of charge. If intending users do not have either of these forms of ID a charge (cash only) will be made to access the site.

Commercial waste

All commercial waste will be charged at commercial waste rates (excluding Chigwell Road which does not accept commercial waste).
