What can I take to the
site?
Newham residents can use the
Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre (RRC) for free - just bring
a driving licence or Council Tax statement as proof of residence in
the borough. The RRC is run by our partner company, Shanks East
London.

At the site you can recycle or reuse the following
items:
- Paper and Cardboard: includes newspapers,
magazines, junk mail, catalogues & directories, and Yellow
Pages (March to May only)
- Metal: includes food & drink cans and
tins, and scrap metal
- Glass: bottles & jars Plastic bottles:
squash bottles, fizzy drink and water bottles, detergent &
shampoo bottles, plastic milk bottles
- Green Waste: garden waste including flowers,
leaves, bark, small branches, twigs, straw, weeds and wood
shavings
- Electrical and White goods: TV's, computer
monitors, large household appliances, washing machines, fridges
& freezers
- Inkjet and toner cartridges
- Shoes and textiles
- Car Batteries, Engine Oil & Tyres Paint
(reused)
- Rubble and hardcore
- Sand and earth
- Wood Asbestos (not recycled - more information
below)
- Cooking oil - for Newham residents
There is also a container available where you can dispose of
non-recyclable items but please recycle as much as you can before
using this area.
New materials are being introduced all the time. To find out if

Asbestos
You can dispose of Asbestos at the site but please telephone (see
the number above) before visiting to ensure there is sufficient
space in the containers. It must be wetted and double-bagged.
