What can I recycle in my orange bag?

You can recycle the following items in orange bags: * Food and drink cans & tins * Paper * Newspapers & Magazines * Junk mail * Directories * Light card such as cereal and tissue boxes * Plastic bottles (plastic types 1, 2 & 3) Find a full list of what you can recycle here:

When is the recycling collection?

Its collected with your refuse the same day as your current refuse collection. Put your bag in your bin the day before your collection day, you can leave your orange bag beside your bin if it is too full.

Can I recycle glass from home?

Glass cannot be recycled in your orange bag but can be left at local recycling banks located throughout the borough. To find out more please telephone 020 8430 2000.

Can the council collect my garden waste?

Yes, we can collect your grass cuttings, leaves, trimmings and small branches. Put the waste into sacks for collection and they will be picked up on Saturdays by a dedicated recycling collection vehicle. There is no charge for collection but you must book by midday (12 noon) Friday to guarantee collection on the following Saturday. How do I order a compost bin?

Newham residents can order either a 220 litre compost bin for £4, includes delivery (normally retails at £39.95) or a 330 litre compost bin for £5, includes delivery (normally retails at £49.95). These can be ordered by telephoning our 24 hour local rate hotline on 0845 130 60 90 or online through www.getcomposting.com/newham or by sending a cheque made payable to Straight PLC to: Straight PLC (Newham), Freepost NEA 2439, Leeds, LS2 3YY. Where can I get more Orange Recycling Bags?

For residents of flats and those who were unable to have one of the new recycling bins, a roll of 13 orange bags is delivered to your doorstep every three months. Should you run out before your next delivery, please call 020 8430 2000 to get some additional bags delivered to you.
