The council's Network Management and Street Works Team controls and gives permission for activities on the borough road network.

These activities include:

• the management of street works and road works
• road closures for works on or near the road
• emergency works
• special events road closures
• crane activities
• cherry pickers
• scaffolding and hoardings
• skips on the highway
• building materials on the highway
• miscellaneous highway licensing functions
