Waterway
authorities
There are two major authorities
and one local organisation that manage waterways in
Newham.
British Waterways manages the canal and inland
waterways network, including the Bow Back Rivers and City Mill
Lock, while the Port of London
Authority takes charge in those areas of the River Thames that
border the borough.
The Lea Rivers Trust is a voluntary organisation that works to
protect the River Lea as well as the Bow Back Rivers.
