Core Strategy

break

Newham has prepared a Core Strategy - a new spatial plan for the borough. It forms the overarching development plan and sets out the long-term spatial vision and spatial policies for the borough. It is key to delivering the Council's Sustainable Community Strategy and implement parts of the London Plan, such as housing and employment targets.

Adopted Core Strategy

The Core Strategy was taken to both Cabinet and Council meetings for adoption on 26 January 2012. The adopted Core Strategy, along with an adoption statement and Sustainability Appraisal adoption statement, can be viewed below.

Please note this version of the Core Strategy was published on 23 April 2013. Interim versions have now therefore been superseded.

The Sustainability Appraisal and other impact assessments and documents submitted to the Secretary of State for examination can be viewed on the earlier stages of the Core Strategy page.

Proposals Map

The Proposals Map below provides more detail on Core Strategy policies and detail spatial designations.
