Forest Gate North by-election results announced

The Labour Party candidate Anamul Islam has been elected into the vacant seat in the Forest Gate North ward by-election.
​Mr Islam polled 1,150 votes. Other candidates Elisabeth Jane Whitebread representing The Green Party polled 681 votes, Conservative Party candidate John Oxley polled 301 votes and James Alan Rumsby representing the Liberal Democrats polled 57 votes.

The turnout was 21.35 per cent.

The vacancy in Forest Gate North ward was caused following the resignation of former Labour Party councillor Ellie Robinson who accepted a job working for the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.
