Mayor and Cabinet to consider Housing Delivery Statement tomorrow night

The Housing Delivery Statement which sets out how housing in Newham will be transformed is one of the items of council business which will be considered by the Mayor and her Cabinet.

The Housing Delivery Statement outlines how the borough intends to deliver on the Mayor’s vision for housing, focusing on engaging residents in decisions about their neighbourhoods; delivering more genuinely affordable homes for local people; and articulating Newham’s values and ways of working to potential partners. 

Other items on the agenda include
​Approval for a development proposal for a site on Plashet Road, Plaistow which will provide 55 affordable homes, a flexible community space and a nursery to accommodate up to 75 children. 
  • ​​Award of contract for the Urban Renewal project which aims to enhance the borough by capturing local aspirations and delivering community initiatives shaped by residents and ranging from wall murals to shop front improvements and underpass enhancements. 
  • Procurement of the Integrated Carers Support Service which supports carers in the borough by providing information, advice and referral to activities and services to meet their needs. 
  • Procurement for Domestic and Sexual Violence Services, collectively known as the One Stop Shop. 
  • Approval for funding to expand Forest Gate Community School.
  • Extension of the grounds maintenance service contract for six months, during which a review will be carried out to enable a decision to be made over the future of the service. 
The meeting will be held at Newham Town Hall in East Ham and starts at 6pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
