New chief finance officer joins Newham Council

​​Mike O’Donnell will be joining Newham Council as a member of the executive leadership team, director of financial sustainability and statutory s151 officer.

Mike will be joining the council on an interim basis until permanent arrangements are put in place.

Kim Bromley Derry, Newham Council’s Chief Executive, said: “Mike will be working closely with the senior team and the Mayor Fiaz and her cabinet over the coming weeks to ensure we have confidence in Newham’s financial position to deliver on the new administration's priorities and that there is transparency in our approach to finances in line with the Mayor's commitment to enhance public accountability and scrutiny in the financial aspects of Newham Council.”

Mike has previously worked at the London Borough of Camden and Birmingham City Council (where he was seconded from Camden).   He has a strong track record in providing strategic financial advice and delivering major change, service improvement and cost reduction.
