Paralympic Torch Relay update - Come to Stratford Park!

29 August 2012 in 2012 Games and legacy and Sport and leisure and Events

Due to earlier bad weather today, the Paralympic Torch Relay is currently running behind schedule.

This means residents on some parts of the route – including all of the Barking Road – will not be able to see the relay.

The Paralympic Flame will however definitely be brought into Stratford Park this evening by Paralympic Torch bearers.

Residents who come to Stratford Park will have the chance to meet Paralympic Torch Bearers and take photos of the torch. Olympic medallist Mark Hunter MBE and Mayor Sir Robin Wales will welcome the flame into Stratford Park.

Live coverage of the Paralympic Opening Ceremony will be shown on our giant live screen from 8pm.

Entertainment this evening includes sporting activity, music, children’s entertainment, food outlets and a licensed bar.

Bring friends, family – and your wellington boots - to Stratford Park today and help welcome the Paralympics to Newham!

Live coverage of the Opening Ceremony will also be shown at our Central Park live site from 8pm.
