Statement on Care Quality Commission's report on Newham University Hospital

22 May 2015 in Health
Reacting to today’s announcement that the Care Quality Commission has rated services at Newham University Hospital as inadequate, councillor Clive Furness, mayoral advisor for adults and health, said:
“Our residents expect to receive the care they need and deserve. This is why the Care Quality Commission’s overall assessment of Newham University Hospital is very disappointing.

“It clearly spells out that there are issues around the management of the Trust. These need to be urgently addressed and rectified.

“However residents should be reassured that the report recognises the good services at Newham University Hospital, especially for those needing emergency care and those suffering from strokes, as well as the hard work of committed nurses, doctors and hospital staff.

“Working with the NHS Newham Clinical Commissioning Group and the Barts Health NHS Trust, I am committed to ensuring that changes are made quickly to ensure all members of the community benefit.”
