Threat of industrial action in Newham by refuse workers is suspended

19 June 2019 in Council and democracy and Environment
Proposed industrial action in Newham by refuse workers who are members of the Unite trade union has been suspended.
In a joint statement, Althea Loderick, Newham Council’s chief executive and head of paid service, and Onay Kasab, Unite’s regional officer, said: “Both sides have today (Wednesday) been involved in constructive talks at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) and it has been agreed that proposed industrial action from Monday 24 June will be suspended.

“Both sides continue to work together to come to a resolution and will return to the negotiation table with ACAS on Tuesday 25 June.”
