Two more cabinet members announced

Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz has named two further Cabinet members who will support her in ensuring that residents are at the heart of everything Newham Council does.

The Cabinet members added today (24 May) to the initial appointments made last week are:
  • Cllr Rachel Tripp – Environment and Highways
  • Cllr Susan Masters – Health and Adult Social Care
Further announcements of final Cabinet positions will be made next week. The Mayor is leading on the portfolio areas of Strategic Housing Delivery, Regeneration and Planning. Other Cabinet positions previously named are:
  • Cllr Charlene McLean – Deputy Mayor, Youth Safety Board and Corporate Parenting
  • Cllr Julianne Marriott – Education, Children and Young People:
  • Cllr John Gray – Housing Services
  • Cllr Terence Paul – Finance
Mayor Fiaz said: “I am excited and looking forward to working with this talented group of people as we enter into a new era of open government for Newham. Residents have put their trust in me for the next four years to work with them and for them on making things better for everyone. They will be at the heart of every decision we make.”

The two Cabinet members announced today will support the Mayor in advancing her agenda on sustainable transport, better roads, fairer parking and improved health outcomes for residents.

The previously announced posts are aligned to her priorities around addressing the housing crisis by creating genuinely affordable homes at social rent levels, promoting youth safety, ensuring continued improvements in education, delivering regeneration that involves and benefits local people, and promoting open and transparent decision making.

The Mayor added: “Our residents can be confident that they are able to shape our priorities and be able to hold me, my Cabinet colleagues and councillors to account. It represents a bold vision for Newham Council. Resident engagement, transparency and accountability will be the hallmark of my administration.”
