Update regarding this evening’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee

6 February 2018 in Housing
Councillor Terry Paul, Mayoral Advisor for Housing said: “I have been working closely with the council’s housing team to ensure all of our residents are safe following the Grenfell Tower tragedy in June 2017.
Significant work has been undertaken ahead of removing the cladding from the blocks with Aluminium Composite Cladding (ACM) – Ferrier Point, Nicholls Point and Tanner Point – and additional fire safety measures have been implemented in the interim. Work to remove the cladding and reclad is due to start imminently and we are committed to keeping all residents affected informed throughout the process.

“The fire safety report due to be heard at this evening’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee (6 February) is not yet finalised and the Chair will be removing it from the agenda.  I am working closely with Councillor Anthony McAlmont, the Chair of the committee to ensure it is completed later this month and can be considered at the next meeting of the scrutiny committee in March.

I look forward to appearing in front of the committee next month to discuss their findings in more detail.”
