Financial Benefits​

The salary range:
  • Occupational Therapist  £32,430  - £39,774 pa + £3,000 Market Supplement
  • Occupational Therapy Practice Manager  £42,681 - £45,585 + £3,000 Market Supplement

Maxine works as an Occupational Therapist in Newham’s Enablement Service and has found it to be friendly and supportive with a high standard of ethnics and flexible working.
 
She says every day on the job is varied, and can be challenging when working with older people assessing environmental adaptations and equipment provision that is person centred.
 
I consider working for Newham Social Service a great career development with effective collaborative working with enablers, senior enablers, family, social workers, and external agencies to ensure that a person’s needs are at the forefront of the enablement process.
The focus of enablement is on restoring or regaining a person’s independent functioning for daily living following illness or disability. The objective is to help people do things for themselves rather than the conventional home care approach of doing things.
Working as an Occupational Therapist entails using my assessment skills, goal setting, and knowledge of the medical, physical, emotional and cognitive impact of disability and illness, to ensure that enablement is tailored to an individual’s needs and to achieve personalised outcomes.
