Join the budget conversation

Newham Council is committed to delivering a budget for residents, and a budget that can continue to support the borough’s most vulnerable residents, while making savings of £45million over the next three years.

Newham wants the budget process to be as open and transparent as possible.  The first stage of that was the publication of a budget simulator and short survey where residents were invited to take part.  This summarised the financial position and enabled residents to suggest how they would go about meeting the financial challenges.

Following that there will be a programme of extensive public engagement across the borough to discuss the budget proposals in January 2020. The results of this will be reported back, in public, to Cabinet for its meeting on 18 February 2020, and then all of Newham’s Councillors will meet on 2 March 2020 to vote on a final proposal.

Budget simulator update

In November, residents were invited to take part in an online Budge Simulator and a short survey about their service priorities.

These results are being analysed and will be published with the papers for the Cabinet meeting being held on 17 December.
