Victoria Cross Commemorative Stone Ceremonies

Five people from Newham received the VC during World War 1. We are honouring each of them by laying a special stone at the Cenotaph around the 100th anniversary of the act of bravery they received the award for.

The first three stones have been laid:

The fourth stone will be laid in honour of Lance Corporal Harold Mugford in April 2017.

Join us in remembering and honouring the bravery of Lance Corporal Harold Mugford. This is the fourth of five special commemorative ceremonies being held in Newham until 2018.
The VC is the highest military award for gallantry and valour in the face of the enemy.
