Volunteer on the farm
We run an adult volunteer scheme for people with an interest in animals or community gardening to help out on the site and at events that we hold throughout the year.
There’s also a young volunteer scheme for 12-17 year olds over the weekends and some school holidays.
Volunteers may help with all sorts of jobs on the farm, including:
- Feeding animals
- Mucking out
- Moving animals from houses to field
- Sweeping the yard
- Collecting eggs
- Grooming animals
For background information and for how to apply for all volunteering roles please see:
Adult Volunteer Scheme information leaflet
Not all of the jobs are easy, but they are all equally important to look after the farm for the animals and visitors.
Become a Volunteer
If you want to apply to be a volunteer, you’ll need to complete the relevant application form.
Adult volunteers will be asked to attend an informal interview and induction, after which, you can start straight away.
To become a young volunteer, you will need to get a parent or carer to fill in a form and also attend an introductory meeting with the Farm Manager or Assistant Farm Manager.
Junior volunteer sessions run mainly at weekends in half-day blocks from 10am-1pm and 1-3.30pm or 4.30pm.
To find out more about volunteering at the farm, please ask a member of staff on site or email [email protected] (volunteering only).
