Newham’s Big Christmas Lunch Week, 12 – 17 December
Christmas can be a difficult time for people and, with the Cost of Living Crisis, this year it could be even harder. To help, the Council is organising a campaign to bring our communities together that includes Christmas light Switch On events and, during w/c 12 December, a coordinated series of Christmas lunches. Newham’s ‘Big Christmas Lunch’ week is supported by the Eden Project and aims to encourage voluntary groups, business partners and others, with the Council, to host a Christmas lunch for those who may not be able to celebrate this year. Remember if you are holding a lunch to let us know by emailing us Community.Neighbourhoods@newham.gov.uk please include the following information
- Organisation
- Date
- Number of attendees expected
- Contact number and email
Social media
During or post event please post your photos on social media by using #newhamchristmas and tag us @NewhamLondon so we can like and share your content.

Health & Safety considerations
When hosting a lunch, remember that safety comes first. Some things to consider before hosting a lunch, includes:
- Food allergies
- Dietary requirements
- Cultural and religious dietary requirements
- Risk assessments
- Food hygiene
- Public liability insurance
- Safeguarding
