We are working hard to ensure that vital services are maintained and that our most vulnerable residents are protected. However due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19, and the resulting pressure on staff, we have no option but to restrict and amend the provision of some services.

As you will appreciate the Council has been affected by loss of staff because of the Coronavirus and so we are focusing our resources on the most urgent and priority services. This is the current status of some of our most popular/highly used services and we will update this on a regular basis. Things are changing rapidly and we thank you for your patience.
To make this as clear as possible, we have rated these Red, Amber or Green, like traffic lights:
Green – Service is operating normally
Amber – Some reduction in service, or service is being delivered differently eg over the telephone instead of face to face
Red – Service is closed

Ceremonies (marriages/civil partnerships) - cancelled. We will be contacting couples to offer a refund or to rebook their ceremony.
Citizenship Ceremonies – we are currently unable to offer group citizenship ceremonies due to the pandemic restrictions and are waiting for further guidance from the Home Office as to how and when this service can resume. We have resumed private citizenship ceremonies, if you have received your Home Office invitation letter and would like to arrange a private ceremony please e-mail us on [email protected].
We have started birth registrations once again, but there is a backlog of registrations still to be completed and we are currently contacting all new parents. For more information visit our pages.
Death Registrations - Phone call are no longer being taken. The registrar will call all relatives. The certificate giving the cause of death is sent direct to the registrar’s office from the medic who pronounced death. Registering a death webpage

Mayor’s surgeries and Councillor’s Surgeries
Mayor's surgeries - From Saturday 13 June Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz restarts her twice-a-month surgeries which had to stop because of the Covid-19 pandemic. They will take place online over Zoom between 10am and 12pm. Please book an appointment here. The number of people the Mayor can see in two hours is limited so you will need to book in advance. When filling out the form please provide some information on what you want to talk about. Zoom details will be sent to each resident once an appointment has been confirmed.
Face-to-face surgeries are cancelled. Telephone surgeries continue as normal.
Councillors' surgeries are suspended - contactable by phone. Contact your ward members at the listed times via their advertised telephone numbers or email addresses
Parks and Play areas, public toilets and outdoor gyms
Still open to enable exercise but will close if people do not practice social distancing
