Coronavirus support for businesses

Emergency rates relief and grants

Discretionary Grant Fund

Following successful lobbying by ourselves and other councils, new grants will be available for businesses who are incurring ongoing fixed property-related costs and have suffered a significant fall in income due to the Covid-19 crisis. We are developing this discretionary business grant scheme, having received guidance from the government on the 13 May, which will target certain types of small and micro-business and charities that were unable to access the earlier grants linked to business rates. The Government funding made available is below £3m, therefore we expect the demand for the Discretionary Grant Fund to vastly exceed what we can pay out. When the grant scheme has been approved in June, our website will have information on the scheme and the application form.

Business Rates grants

On March 11 2020, the Chancellor announced in his budget that to combat the Covid-19 crisis businesses getting either Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) or Retail Discount Relief would receive a government grant depending on which relief they were getting.

Eligibility

The Council has identified all of the businesses that would have been eligible for relief on 11 March 2020 and are in the process of contacting them.

We are trying to reach as many businesses that qualify for the grants as we can in the most effective and quickest way possible.

If we have an email address or mobile number for you, you will shortly receive an email or text message.

If we only have a physical address then you will shortly receive a letter. We encourage you to complete the on line form below in order that your grant payment can be made as quickly as possible.

Please complete the on line form below according to your eligibility criteria.
