The welfare of children remains a priority for the Council, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Phone support is available for a variety of services to support parents and children. The services are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Mental health support
Some children will find the change of routine and staying at home difficult and advice on how to support your child’s mental health and well-being during the Coronavirus outbreak is available on the DfE website.
Unfortunately, there will be a number of children and young people who will experience bereavement during the pandemic. There is a range of organisations offer support to bereaved children and young people.

Feeding your baby and Coronavirus
We have produced a useful factsheet for parents (PDF) on baby feeding during coronavirus.
There is a lot of evidence that breastfeeding reduces the risk of babies developing infectious diseases.
Live constituents in human milk, including immunoglobulins, antiviral factors, cytokines and leucocytes that help to boost the baby’s immune system.
It is sensible to do all we can to continue to promote, protect and support breastfeeding, and safe, responsive formula feeding where this is not possible.

Digital Youth Zones
Our buildings may be closed currently, but we're still offering loads of opportunties to come together online in our new Digital Youth Zone sessions.
Detached Youth Work Team
Newham’s Detached Youth Work Team typically work on the street, in parks, pitches, shops, malls and cafes etc. The nature of our work means we engage with and support some of Newham’s most vulnerable young people who are not accessing any other LBN services. We are in a unique position during the COVID-19 crisis to be able to help young people who find themselves outside at this time.
