Coronavirus support for vulnerable and high risk people

NHS Shield Offer

Over 1.5 million people nationwide were contacted by the Government and/or NHS to inform them that they should shield during the pandemic, due to being high risk.

As restrictions continue to ease, the Government has paused shielding from 1 August 2020.

The pausing of shielding means that the food packages provided through the Shielding Programme ended at the end of July. People who are shielding should have been contacted by the NHS to discuss the closing of the service.

As the pandemic is declining and restrictions continue to ease, shielding will end on 31 July 2020.

The ending of shielding means that the Government food packages will also end at the end of July. People who are shielding should have been contacted by the NHS to discuss the closing of the service.

If you will not be able to afford groceries for yourself when the shielding food packages end please contact our COVID-19 helpline to find out what support is available.

You can contact the COVID-19 Helpline at 020 7473 9711 or [email protected].

The Helpline is open between 1pm and 7pm, 7 days a week. Call handlers can speak multiple languages.
