I’m a frontline health and social care worker, how do book my appointment?

You can book your vaccine online. There are many locations offering vaccines in Newham so you can chose somewhere convenient for you. For more information on how to book visit How to get your Covid-19 vaccine.

As part of the sign-up process, you may be required to provide your NHS number. This can be found using the Find your NHS number service on the NHS website.

You can also attend any walk in clinics without an appointment. It is helpful to bring your work ID to show that you are a frontline health and social care worker.

How do I know if I’m a frontline health and social care worker?

The London Borough of Newham has assessed and defined frontline health and social care staff groups using national Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) criteria and guidance. We have taken into account the type of service delivered and the level of contact with those most vulnerable to COVID-19.

We recognise that there are a range of other front line workers in essential roles who are not included on this list.

Why were key frontline health and social care workers prioritised?

The main reason why health and social care staff were being vaccinated first is to protect the vulnerable people they come into contact with.

Is vaccination required for frontline health and social care workers?

All health and social care workers, including volunteers, who have face-to-face contact with service users will be required to be fully vaccinated by 1 April 2022, unless exempt. This will apply to workers in all Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated providers. Find out more.

Anyone working in a CQC-registered care home in England for residents requiring nursing or personal care must have both doses of the vaccine before 11 November 2021 unless they have a medical assumption. Find out more.

I have some questions about the vaccine, where can I get my questions answered?

Come along to one of our Q&A sessions where we will share information about the vaccine and answer your questions. You can also sign up for a one-on-one conversation with a vaccine peer supporter. Please see the pages above for more information.
