Coronavirus updates for recycling, waste and bin collections

Revised times and dates for services over Christmas and New Year

Rubbish bin collections

If you or a member of your household is self-isolating at home, follow the stay at home guidance.

To dispose of any face coverings or PPE you or members of your household use when self- isolating, you should:

  • Double bag them
  • Store them for 72 hours before putting them in the rubbish
  • Do not put them in a recycling bin

Bulky waste items

Bulky waste temporarily suspended - Due to higher than normal levels of staff absence, collections of garden waste, bulky waste collections and the delivery of bins are temporarily suspended. This is to maintain the core bin collection schedule as a priority

Existing requests will be fulfilled. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Green waste collection

Green and garden waste service temporarily suspended. However, you are now able to book a free garden waste collection for your Christmas tree.

Once you have taken the decorations off your real Christmas tree, book a free garden waste collection to pick up your tree.

Please place your tree outside when you book your collection. You will need to rebook if your tree isn’t outside when we come to collect it.

Book a collection on our green and garden waste page.

You can also take your Christmas tree to Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling centre in Beckton. You can find opening hours for Jenkins Lane on the East London waste website.
