Ordinary Meetings of
Council
The Council is a formal meeting of all
sixty six Newham Councillors and the elected Mayor. It meets up to
8 times a year, usually on a Monday at 7.00 pm, and is a meeting
which is open to the public to attend. At these meetings the
Council makes major decisions, such as deciding the council tax and
budget and policy framework documents.
Annual Meeting of the Council
Full Council has a special meeting in
May known as the Annual Meeting. Here the Mayor makes important
announcements, committees are appointed, and the Chair of Council
is elected.
