When will the changes take place?
We plan to start works in autumn 2021, subject to the outcome of this consultation and the necessary approvals. Due to the scale of the scheme, and to minimise disruption for the local community, the works will be delivered in phases and are due to be completed in summer 2024. Therefore, we have already delivered or are in the process of delivering interim measures to improve road safety and to respond to issues raised by the local community.
Interim road safety measures
As it will take some time to develop the final plan for improvements to the Royal Docks Corridor, we have introduced some interim road safety measures to improve safety and reduce vehicle speeds. The interim interventions include introducing a new zebra crossing, improving existing crossing points, installing speed warning signs and using road markings to redefine the road layout.
