Newham Council tenants and leaseholders to be given voice through new forums

A series of forums across Newham will take place soon offering a voice to Newham Council’s tenants and leaseholders.

There are more than 16,000 tenants and 7,000 leaseholders living in council houses across Newham. To communicate better and find out what they want from their housing services, Tenant and Leaseholder Forums will take place across the borough, starting at the end of July.

The forums will give a voice to residents living across the council’s housing stock. There will be opportunities to tell officers and councillor what they do and don’t like about their housing service and this feedback will be used to make improvements.

  • East Ham North, Little Ilford, Manor Park, East Ham Central, East Ham South and Wall End - Tuesday 30 July between 6.30 and 8.30pm at East Ham Town Hall, Barking Road
  • Custom House, Canning Town North, Canning Town South, Beckton and Royal Docks - Wednesday 31 July between 6.30 and 8.30pm at Canning Town Library, Barking Road
  • Plaistow South, Plaistow North, Boleyn, Green Street East, Green Street West and out of borough - Thursday 1 August between 6.30 and 8.30pm at East Ham Town Hall, Barking Road
  • Forest Gate North, Forest Gate South, Stratford and New Town and West Ham - Tuesday 6 August between 6.30 and 8.30pm at Old Town Hall Stratford.

Councillor Shaban Mohammed, Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing said: “These forums are a great opportunity for our tenants and leaseholders to put forward their voice and speak directly to the officers responsible for delivering their housing services. Residents are at the heart of everything we do and this includes housing. We want residents to have more of a say in decisions related to housing and these forums will be used to identify issues and improve the service provided. We hope to meet lots of our tenants and leaseholders and look forward to hearing what they have to say.”

Places are limited so anyone interested in coming along needs to book in advance by sending an email to TandLForum@newham.gov.uk
