Detached Youth Work

Newham’s Detached Youth Work Team are based primarily in Stratford providing youth work support to young people in their environment, and on their terms. We typically work on the street, in parks, pitches, shops, malls and cafes etc. The nature of our work means we engage with and support some of Newham’s most vulnerable young people who are not accessing any other LBN services.

We are in a unique position during the COVID-19 crisis to be able to help young people who find themselves outside at this time, and we have secured key worker status from the Chief Executive and the Mayor.

If you’d like to know more information about the Detached Team and the work they are doing during the COVID-19 period, please get in contact with:

Mohammed Rafi, Senior Detached Youth Worker, on 07814280698)
Chelsie Sparks, Youth Worker, on 07773481367
Alternatively, you can find either them on the LBN’s Outlook address book.

We don’t work on a registration or referral basis, as we provide open access and universal youth work. However, if you are aware of a particular young person who may need our support at this time, in the Stratford area, please reach out to us via the contact information given above.

Weekly Schedule

We do not have a static weekly schedule, and our timings are subject to change as we shape our service around the emerging and existing needs of young people in the area.

During this period, we are completing 2 hr sessions, 4 times per week, including one weekend day. The current detached youth work sessions operate around the following times:

  • 2pm-4pm
  • 4pm-6pm
  • 5pm-7pm
