The Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz wants to wish Eid Mubarak to all residents celebrating Eid-al-Adha today.
Eid al-Adha is the most significant of all the Holy festivals and symbolises the willingness of sacrifice to God.
Mayor Fiaz said: “I wish everyone marking Eid al-Adha today good blessings and peace during the year ahead. This is an auspicious day for many Newham residents and it is also a day of reflection and charitable giving. After such a difficult year, I hope many will find comfort celebrating with their loved ones and friends.
“I also want to remind all those celebrating to still be cautious wherever they can as the pandemic is not over and I encourage people to wear a face mask where appropriate. I hope you all continue to keep well and safe. Blessed Eid Mubarak from all of us here at the council.”
