Voice of the Youth Mural (Shape Newham)
Shape Newham launched in 2019 to co-design and install imaginative and original public space improvement projects across the borough.
The Shape Newham mural in Forest Gate is called “Voice of the Youth” and was designed together with young people from Forest Gate Youth Zone. It is located on the Youth Zone building on Woodford Road.
Voice of the Youth has been designed with the of young people from Forest Gate Youth Zone. The words: Empower, Experience, Educate, Family and Growth highlights their connection with the centre, while the colour scheme and silhouettes show the different activities which they take part in there. The young people decided to highlight their experience through these words so that the community would understand how important the centre is to them.
The design of the project was led by Trapped in Zone One and the installation was completed in Spring 2021.
