We are developing a new High Streets Strategy. The Newham High Streets Improvement and Investment Strategy will set out a vision for high street areas, outlining proposals to improve and invest in our high streets and surrounding local economies in line with the ambition to enable thriving local 15-minute neighbourhoods throughout Newham.
There are four themes to the overarching vision for Newham’s high streets:
- Vibrant places with celebrated local identities
- Providing for everyday resident needs
- Promoting enterprise and innovation
- Well connected with high quality public spaces
As part of each theme we are developing a set of ambitions for all of Newham’s high streets, reflecting on what is already happening to achieve each ambition and what else should be recommended.
Additionally the strategy will seek to celebrate the diversity of the borough with a focus on separate visions of each of Newham’s main town centres. We will review how each ambition should be implemented in a way that reflects the uniqueness of each of our town centres and will develop place-specific projects and recommendations.
We will be undertaking engaging with residents and businesses to develop the vision and recommendations for each town centre together.
