​​Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz officially cut the ribbon at the launch of a nursery service for two-year-olds at Edith Kerrison Nursery and Children’s Centre.​

The Nursery, which serves families and children in Custom House and Canning Town, has increased its capacity by fifty per cent, so now it can accommodate 40 children a day.

Headteacher, Jo Aylett said: “It was an absolutely fantastic day and we were so pleased to see so many of our families, ninety of them, come in along to share the moment."
 
Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz said: “It was great to see so many parents and children enjoying themselves and celebrating the increase in the availability of nursery places in the borough. It is so important that we improve nursery education for our youngest children, to give them the best possible start in life.”
