To the moon, stars and Royal Docks - fireworks return to Silvertown

Fireworks display at Royal Docks

Newham’s annual free fireworks extravaganza makes a triumphant return to the Royal Docks next month, celebrating 50 years since the historic Apollo 11 adventure which put the first man on the moon.

Twelve months ago, in its first year at the Docks, the display attracted over 33,000 visitors.

This year the event organised by Newham Council in partnership with the Royal Docks Team will be held on Saturday November 2.

The stunning and historic buildings of the Royal Docks will once again form the back drop for the show, with displays choreographed to a musical soundtrack especially chosen as a celebration of the historic lunar mission of 1969.

The venue at Silvertown Quays off North Woolwich Road will host the exhilarating fireworks display as well as children’s funfair rides, a range of food stalls, a bar and music courtesy of Heart FM DJ Roberto who’ll keep you dancing to beat the cold.

The evening will also include electrifying performances from The Lords of Lightening with a breathtaking show entitled “Dual”.

The dock buildings will be beautifully illuminated to show off the spectacular post-industrial structure that is Millennium Mills and provide a dramatic frame for the whole event.

Gates will open at 5:30pm followed by the display at approximately 7:30pm. Guests are urged to arrive early to enjoy the other attractions that will be on site.

Entrance to the event is free and where possible visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport to get there, as there is no on site public parking.
