Sheltered housing in Newham

We manage six of our sheltered housing schemes. They are located in Newham and one of them in the Wanstead area.

Four of our sheltered housing are low-rise blocks (ground and first floor only), two are high rise flats and a scheme of bungalows.

All of our schemes have community facilities such as:
  • residents’ lounges
  • laundry rooms
  • garden areas
for the use and enjoyment of all residents.
Our housing schemes have good security with door entry and CCTV systems. The two high-rise blocks also have a concierge service.

Support in sheltered housing

We provide housing-related support to help residents to stay independent in their own homes for as long as possible, while giving them access to support services such as carers, aids and adaptations, and welfare benefits advice.

We promote a wide range social and leisure activities, including:
  • exercise classes
  • yoga and meditation
  • art classes
  • computer training
  • English language classes.
We also encourage residents to organise and take part in a range of social activities such as:
  • outings
  • popular games including bingo, darts, pool and dominos
  • parties, barbecues, luncheons and charity events.
Older people living in the wider community are also welcome to take part in all our events.
